A Sweet and Spicy Crockpot Meatball Recipe made with Grape Jelly!

Grape jelly adds a sweet taste to your slow cooker meatballs!Making a crockpot meatball dish is easy and tasty if your main ingredient is grape jelly.

Think about it.  You are craving something sweet and tangy, or you are planning a  get together at your house.  You are looking for an appetizer that you can whip up quickly and forget about while you get other things ready.  This is the perfect quick and easy crockpot recipe for you.

There are a couple of ways you can make this recipe, too.  If you are like me, and have an aversion to touching raw meat, then a package of frozen, pre-made meatballs is just what you need.  Or, if making meatballs by hand is your thing, then have at it.  The recipe below will include ingredients and instructions for making your own meatballs, but you can always just use the frozen!

The grape jelly adds just the right amount of sweetness to offset the "kick" of the chili sauce.  The final product is perfect for serving as an  hor' devoure at a party, or something new to try for dinner that is a little out of the ordinary-- a great way to use your crockpot!

Grape Jelly Meatballs

 Sauce

1 cup grape jelly (I'm partial to Welch's brand, but any will do!)

1 1/2 cups chili sauce

2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

Meatballs

1 pound lean ground beef (or ground turkey)

1 egg

1/4 cup dry bread crumbs (finely crushed)

2 teaspoons Parmesan cheese

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

If you are planning on making the meatballs, first combine the ingredients for the grape jelly sauce together and mix well.  Pour into crockpot and begin cooking, covered on high heat, while preparing meatballs to bake. Combine meatball ingredients and mix thoroughy.  Shape into 30 meatballs, and place on a cookie sheet in a preheated oven at 400 degrees and cook for 15-20 minutes.  Drain well, then add to sauce mixture, stir to coat evenly, and cover and cook in crockpot on low heat for 6-8 hours. Using frozen meatballs saves time!  You can create the grape jelly sauce mixture above, and pour into crockpot. Add about 30 frozen meatballs .  Mix to coat them evenly, and cover and cook for 6-8 hours.

Now that you have those cooking and underway, you can move on to other things, or simply sit back, put up your feet an relax for a bit. Maybe pick up a good book, like 101 Things to do with a Slow Cooker, and plan your next easy-to-fix meal!
