Barbecue Pork Slow Cooker Recipes Your Family Will Love!

Barbecue sauce is key in slow cooker pork recipes

Barbecue pork recipes in a slow cooker can take so many shapes. There are pork ribs, pork chops, pork loin, and the list goes on and on. Then there is the barbecue sauce flavors: honey, mesquite, hickory, spicy, etc. The key is to combine your slow cooker, some pork, a bottle of BBQ sauce, and a great recipe all in the right proportions to create a great family meal.

Our family loves barbecue pork ribs. I experimented for months with many different versions to come up with this slow cooker recipe. I found that having the right flavor of barbecue sauce to be key in creating a recipe that is a "keeper." I use KC Masterpiece Hickory style barbecue sauce in this recipe. It adds just the right flavor to the pork, and the slow cooker does the rest!

I call this recipe Sweet Pork Ribs, and it is found in the barbecue pork recipe section of my 101 More Things to do with a Slow Cooker cookbook.

  • 1 pound baby back pork ribs
  • 1 cup KC Masterpiece Hickory Style Barbecue Sauce
  • 1 jar (18 ounces) cherry jam or preserves
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Place ribs in greased 2 to 3 1/2 quart slow cooker. In a bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Pour barbecue sauce mix over pork ribs. Cover and cook on low heat 6-8 hours, or on high heat 3-4 hours. Makes 2-4 servings.

This barbecue pork recipe, served hot and fresh from the slow cooker, is best with seasoned potato wedges and steamed garden veggies. A hot buttered roll is good on the side.

Shredded Barbecue Pork and Root Beer Sandwiches

Dad's rootbeer combined with BBQ sauce makes for great slow cooker
pork!

Another great slow cooker recipe for combing barbecue sauce and pork, is this delicious sandwich meat. By letting the slow cooker tenderize the pork until it literally falls apart, soaking up the flavor of the barbecue sauce, you will have a meal destined to be a family favorite.

This recipe is a Slow Cooker 101 original, and isn't found among the recipes in my cookbooks.

I like to call it, Shredded Barbecue Pork& Root Beer Sandwiches.
